Description |
Preparations for the visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to Burnley on March 8th 1945, followed by a carnival parade (possibly in Cornwall) and scenes from seaside holidays. Three men make and receive telephone calls before meeting in an office. Workers decorate Burnley Town Hall and erect a covered stage outside Manchester Road station. Dignitaries arrive by car, crowds line the streets and there is a brief shot of a book signed by the King and Queen. The film cuts to a parade that moves down what appears to be a Cornish town street, before there is seaside holiday footage from Cleveleys (featuring a stage show by the Cleveleys Jolly Tars) and Douglas and shots of a lido (possibly at St. Annes). |
