Description

Performance of the play 'Our Game,' written by playwright John Fay in association with Kirkby Response Theatre, Merseyside. Performed in a large theatre in Liverpool, the play reflects on the Heysel Stadium Disaster in 1985 when Liverpool and Juventus football fans clashed in the Belgian stadium - 39 Juventus fans died and a further 600 fans were injured. Performed by a small cast, including John Fay as a fan and the commentator, with simple and effective stage props and projections the play follows a group of Liverpool fans on their journey to the match and the devastating impact of the ensuing events on their lives, their devotion to the game and historical events it makes allusions to. This is the first 25 minutes (stage centre view) of the 70 minute play.
