Description

Scenes from the 1952 Preston Guild celebrations featuring commemorative perfomances, exhibitions, ceremonies and processions.
REEL1 features: the Mayor's proclamation; a firework display at Moor Park; the Mayor opening exhibitions at the Harris Museum; the Guild's first Mayoral procession; going to the Parish Church for morning service and the Guild Festival at Avenham Park.
REEL2 features: an outdoor ceremony for the presentation of a commemorative scroll, representing Preston's adoption of the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment; a fireworks display and people arriving for a thanksgiving service.
Reel3 features: a 'Merrie England' open-air performances; a procession of veteran cars; the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show in Ashton Park; a funfair at Moor Park and Preston North End playing West Bromwich Albion.
Reel4 features: C of E, Catholic and Free Church processions, followed by the Merchant Trades and Friendly Society Processions.
