Description

Film of the Gala held at Cadley, Preston. Preparations are shown, followed by a procession through the streets. The Rose Queen is crowned and makes a speech. Then follows scenes from the fete - the various stalls and games, a judo display, children's fancy dress competition and a race featuring motorbikes towing men in prams. There are also brief shots of a broken fairground ride being dismantled. This film was made to raise funds to build a Community Centre in Cadley (never completed due to lack of support) - it was shown at various functions locally and contains a deliberate mistake, whoever spotted it won a prize.
