Description

Festival of Britain record featuring the selection of Joyce Riley as Burnley's festival queen and the carnival procession on 16th June 1951. Mrs Riley and her attendants are presented with flowers and pose with the mayor (Mr Alderman Broderick). The carnival procession includes a military review and a variety of floats and vehicles that promote and celebrate local services. Some floats recreate scenes from bible stories.
