Description

Events at the Mining Festival held at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool in November 1977. After opening shots of Blackpool seafront, there is a speech inside the venue by NCB Chairman Sir Derek Ezra. Competitions, exhibitions and events are featured, covering technology, art, health and safety, sport, music, fashion, entertainment and drama. The finale at the Opera House, hosted by Stuart Hall, sees the 1977 Coal Queen being crowned. Ends with a closing address by the Chairman and shots of miners' families enjoying fireworks and rides at the Pleasure Beach.
