Description |
Scenes from Bolton Carnival of 1977 celebrating the Silver Jubilee featuring a parade of floats followed by a series of races from the official 'It's A Knockout' television series. A convoy of taxis are seen driving along Manchester Road in Westhoughton, with Jimmy Savile stood in a Rolls Royce at their head and then the start of a balloon race is shown. A further parade of floats and vehicles, including Fred Dibnah's steam engine. Ends with views from the Liverpool International Garden Festival in 1984 and sightseeing in the ruins of Mardale village, which lies at the bottom of Haweswater dam in the Lake District, re-appearing only during times of drought. |
