Description

The boiler house in the basement of Gretney Walk, one of the high-rise, system-built blocks of flats in Hulme, Manchester. Shows the pipes conveying water and heating, and outside views of the building and surrounds. Someone explains how the boiler house works, with another person talking about the flats in general and health hazards, illustrated by shots of rubbish accumulating in empty flats. Shots of demolition of flats surrounding Gretney Walk, and one of the tenants, Harry Sherwood, demonstrates some of the methods being used to combat the cockroach infestation in the block.
