Description

Film following the course of the River Bollin through Cheshire. Opens with shots of hang-gliders gathered on a hillside and airborne. Continues with footage of the river as it passes through Langley, Macclesfield, past the Trentabank Reservoir, through Prestbury, Bollin Bridge, Wilmslow and Styal, where Quarry Bank Mill is seen. The river crosses the Bridgewater Canal near Lymm and joins the Manchester Ship Canal. The film features the canal from this point to Liverpool. Intercut with footage of the River Bollin are shots of the surrounding countryside and various activities, settlements, wildlife and buildings found near its banks. Includes streetscenes from Macclesfield and Wilmslow, a conglomeration of boats and people near Lymm and children playing at a variety of locations. There is footage of Castle Mill open air swimming pool and of people playing tennis, golf and rugby union. A helicopter is seen lowering a girder into a forest clearing for the construction of a bridge and there are scenes from Manchester airport, including shots from a plane landing.
Aerial shots feature at various points of the film.
