Description |
Film following the process of rope making by hand at the workshop of William Outhwaite in Hawes, Yorkshire. After shots of women inspecting rope and bags on a stall (and a close up shot of a sign above the workshop 'Outhwaite Rope-Maker'), the film cuts to the process of making rope. Strands of yarn are hooked up to a rope making machine and twisted together. A wooden "top" is used to help bind the rope. The film ends with exterior shots of the weaving of webbing on a handloom and of the rope maker finishing a cow-tie (or halter). |
