Description |
Film of activities at Bolton School in 1945-46. Features footage of staff and pupils in assemblies, staff meetings, lessons and exams as well as undertaking a wide variety of different activities. The schools scout troop is seen on a camping trip to Borrowdale - they play games and prepare and eat a meal. The Agricultural Camp at Parbold is featured - pupils harvest potatoes and strawberries. The Pig Club are seen feeding the school's pigs. Pupils are seen engaged in a variety of sports: football; cricket; high jump; gymnastics and athletics. The Aeromodelling and Chess Club members are seen engaged in their hobbies. There is footage of the preparation for and performance of Shakespeare's Richard II and the school orchestra is seen performing in the school hall. Closes with shots of speech day, in which Lieutenant General Brian Horrocks presents a succession of certificates and trophies. |
