Description |
Film of Bolton School in 1951. The whole spectrum of school events is featured. An opening sequence features staff and pupils gathering for an assembly inter-cut with shots of a clock. A variety of lessons are featured including sciences, geography, woodwork, music and art. Pupils are seen having lunch, taking exams, surveying and searching for wildlife. There is footage of the sports undertaken at Bolton School; cricket, swimming , football, gymnastics and PE all feature. Extra curricular activities such as bee keeping, art and pond life exhibitions and model aircraft flying are seen. There is footage of the Philharmonic Society listening to records and pupils are seen assembling and operating puppets in a play. Events such as Sports Day, a School Play, a performance by the school orchestra and a camp at Ullswater feature. Peter Baden Powell (son of the founder of the scouting movement) opening the school's new scout headquarters at Woodlands. The film closes with presentations being made at speech day and a mass PT display. |
