Description |
A record of the preparation for, and participation in, a raft race on the River Ribble in Lancashire, by a group of local young men. Their craft is ceremonially launched with a bottle broken on the rear, and the rowers are seen practising. During the race, a variety of rafts, from sophisticated to ramshackle, take part, with the participants often in fancy dress. At the end of the race, quite a few people end up bedragged and in the water. |
