Description |
Follows the work of Jim Braid, who practises the dying art of haffe net fishing on the River Lune near Lancaster. The film begins in Mr Braid's sitting room where he reads the newspaper whilst waiting for the evening tide. He is seen leaving his house, driving to the shore and carrying his wooden-framed haffe net to the mouth of the river, dressed in waterproof clothing and waders. There are shots of Mr Braid using the net to catch salmon on the incoming tide. Other fishermen are shown, including those using boats to fish in deeper water. The boats are seen returning to land and the film ends with Mr Braid carrying his net and catch back up the shore. |
