Description |
Scenes from the Mancunian Swim Squad's 1972 trip to the Amateur Swimming Association 's (ASA) Championships at Crystal Palace, featuring competitors setting off from Manchester Piccadilly Station and arriving at Crystal Palace on foot. A series of relay races are shown, together with views of a diving competition. Diane Ashton is seen winning the 200m backstroke and is pictured in a back garden with her trophy, before the whole squad get back to regular training at New Islington Pool. Closes with races from the ASA Festival in Leeds and shots of the squad's Division II team preparing for a bus trip to Tynemouth. |
