Description

A look at the redevelopment and reconstruction of Manchester in the late 1960s, with scenes of slum clearances and the construction of modern high density blocks. Features the official openings of Artillery Court in Ardwick on 18th March 1967 and of Park Court in Wythenshawe. There is footage shot from inside a car as it travels along the Mancunian Way, of derelict houses and of architects models. On a site in Hulme, construction processes are shown and visitors look round some of the new flats before the film concludes with firemen tackling a blaze in a scrapyard.
