Description |
The film opens with scenes from a local event, we see spectators stood near an ice cream van watching a wellington boot throwing competition, and people having a picnic. We then see scenes from a cricket match, and a trophy being presented. We see people bowling, and then there are views of a waterfall. There follow rural scenes. We see men building a dry-stone wall, then there are scenes of cows in field and of a shepherd and his sheepdog herding the sheep. Some young girls play in a lake and there are close up shots of ducks. We then see a religious ceremony, the May Sermons, taking place in a park. Clergymen lead the ceremony which also includes war veterans, the boys Brigade and civic dignitaries. The participants and spectators walk in procession to the war memorial to complete the ceremony and then there is a larger parade with a brass band through the town. |
