Description

Footage of a rally at Manchester Polytechnic Students' Union following a large march through Manchester in support of the Miners' Strike. Betty Heathfield addresses the rally and speaks about the initiatives women have taken during the strike and their intention to strengthen their involvement in the future. She talks about the weakness of the pound and the growing economic crisis and criticises the media's portrayal of women. Further contribution from a miner's wife and then from the audience - how women's involvement should be sustained in all disputes, problem of the labour movement in supporting women's involvement and how they have treated strike with complacency.
