Description

Film of the visit of the Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, to Central Lancashire on 18-2-83. The film opens with her visit to an exhibition about the Central Lancashire Development Corporation (now known as English Partnerships) held at Cuerden Hall. She is seen arriving with her husband Denis and the official party, and being greeted by a small crowd - camera crews and police are in evidence. She is seen perusing maps and photographs in the exhibition before departing. The official party then visits the Dainichi Sykes Robotics factory at Walton Summit Again a crowd is present, a banner for Preston and District Textile Trades Federation is visible, as are the police and press. The film closes with Mrs Thatcher getting into a car as people wave.
