Description

A look at Manchester city centre's hydraulic power supply, which was provided by central pumping stations and a network of hydraulic pipes from 1894-1972. There are views of former pumping stations and engine room interiors, explaining how the steam power supply was converted into electricity. Ends by showing how the Manchester town hall clock is is still operated by its own hydraulic system of valves and motors.
