Description

Film showing the process of oat cake making as practised by Mr and Mrs Slater from Preston. After shots of oat fields, a water wheel and a cottage, the film moves to a cottage bakery where Mrs Slater mixes batter. There are shots of the cooking process, in which Mr Slater is seen using a throwing machine that flips the batter onto a hot backstone which cooks the oval-shaped oat cakes. The cakes are turned with a knife then removed from the stone and placed on a cooling rack. The film ends with Edith Hanna preparing and serving oat cakes to three children.
