Description |
Craftsman Will Everett demonstrates the art of making an oak spelk basket in an open-air workshop at Askam-in-Furness, Cumbria. He saws a piece of oak sapling to length, splits it in two, then, using a variety of traditional tools and skills, creates thin strips of oak and a basket rim from a piece of ash. Finally, Mr Everett weaves the strips together to make an oak spelk basket as four men watch him at work. The film concludes with four women handling and admiring the completed baskets. |
