Film opens with shots of Manchester decorated for the Coronation - bunting and Union Jack flags - including Piccadilly Gardens (also by night), Deansgate, and Oldham Street. In Albert Square trams and two policemen are seen passing in the foreground. Children jump about for the camera in a residential street, and two parties are seen, one on Robert Street, the other at Ferndale Gardens, Kingsway. Brief shots of a sleeping child (the filmmaker's daughter, Jean) are followed by her trip to the zoo. A wide variety of animals are seen, and an elephant ride carrying about ten people. |
