Description

Promotional film outlining the importance of the port of Liverpool to Britain and the development of the city's industries and infrastructure after World War Two. The film opens with scenes of ships on the Mersey and activity in the docks including cargo handling and the Langton dock entrance development. After footage of the Mersey tunnel, the ferry service and the overhead railway, the focus moves to the outskirts of the city and the industrial developments at Kirkby and Speke. There is also an emphasis on town planning in these areas, with housebuilding projects and facilities for young and old alike offering a positive vision for Liverpool's future.
