Description

Scenes from social activities organised by Bollington Methodist Church. We see scenes from the 'High Street Rose Queen and Garden Fete, 19th June 1954'. We see the procession and the crowning of the new Rose Queen. There are also scenes from the MAYC (the Methodist Association of Youth Clubs) Carnival which took place on 23rd August 1952. We see scenes from the procession, and then from the carnival field. The opener, Mr. J.B. Rhodes is introduced by Bernard Barry. Mr. Rhodes then goes on to judge the carnival fancy dress costumes along with Mrs Trevor Hill from the BBC. Violet Carson is there as a guest, she speaks to the crowd. We see the Youth Council discussing the new programmes and then there are scenes from a MAYC trip to London. They take a sightseeing boat trip on the Thames, and there are some street scenes. We then see them departing on the train for home, a girl from the group waves with her head out of the window.
