Description

A documentary film which follows the 16 month project undertaken by Wimpey Asphalt to resurface the runway of Manchester Airport in stages at night between 11pm and 7am, enabling flight services to operate during the day. A brief introduction to the airport's history is followed by detailed scenes from a typical 8-hour shift, as Wimpey site engineers co-ordinate the laying of new asphalt onto the runway. Ends with their handing the runway back to air-traffic controllers in the morning.
