Description |
Vehicles are directed by traffic signs and a traffic warden down a busy street. The River Ribble flows under a brick bridge and labourers use a mechanical digger and crane to shift earth to build the Whalley-Clitheroe bypass. Surveyors work and cattle return to the farm at night. Traffic drives quickly along the new bypass. A farmer observes the change in the landscape, a train passes close to the bypass. There are shots of the gardens, ruins and cemetery at Whalley Abbey, and of the River Ribble. The busy street is now quiet, there is little traffic. Children play in a playground. |
