Description |
Film about the increasing level of mechanisation in the cotton industry from 1720 to 1820, taking what was essentially a cottage industry into a factory environment. There are demonstrations of early spinning wheels, spinning jennies and mules (using authentic replicas) and also an early powered loom. The film ends with footage in a contemporary cotton mill in "Lancashire". |
