Description |
Foden celebrate their centenary on 7th July 1956 with a parade and an afternoon sport event. After an introduction to the Foden board of directors, we see the parade. The parade includes a range of vehicles from different ages. There are horse drawn carriages, penny farthings, traction engines, veteran cars, vintage cars, lorries, road tankers, buses and lorries. There are also floats decorated by various Foden departments, marching bands and dance troupes. At the carnival field we see an afternoon sport event. People take part in a tug of war and various fun races including a wheelbarrow race, a sack race, an egg and spoon race, a fancy dress relay and a sprint. At the end of the film we see the Foden staff rehearsing for the parade. They put the finishing touches to their floats and practice driving their vehicles. We see a man having a very shaky practice go at riding a penny farthing. |
