Description |
The film consists of raw material for "THE CHANGING FACE OF SHAW AND CROMPTON" (Acc No: 2654). There are shots of shops, banks, street signs, terraced housing and roads, the 'Big Lamp' (a local memorial), market stalls, pubs and other local amenities. There are four long sequences comprising guided tours of local factories: J.D. Williams and Littlewoods Catalogue centres, the Osram light bulb factory and the Warburtons bakery. In each case, the librarian Frances Stott is shown around by a company representative, and are allowed to film the various activities. Each segment has clear footage and narrations. There is more general footage. |
