Description |
Film about the career of a professional footballer, centring on the career of Burnley's goalkeeper Peter Mellor. A variety of people give their opinions on the game and what it means to them. Mellor, his wife and the Burnley manager are heard talking about football as are the supporters and non-playing club employees such as the woman who does the laundry. Mellor and his team mates are seen on the training ground, in the dressing room, fishing and attending a function. Interspersed with this footage are shots of a game between Burnley and Manchester United, George Best and Bobby Charlton are seen playing for United. The film closes with the Burnley team relaxing and playing cards on their team bus as it heads for a match at West Bromwich Albion. The football results are heard being read over the credits - Burnley won 1-0. |
