Description

The first leg of John Hindley's world trip. Includes views of the liner leaving Liverpool harbour, people on the quayside and the pilot leaving the ship. Also Tenerife harbour, seen from the ship, Santa Cruz harbour with people diving for coins and an albatross in flight. On to South Africa and views of Table Mountain and Capetown. Also Wellington, a picnic near Breede River (with Vernie Haighton and Mr. Freeland?), a round of golf at Huot Bay and another picnic near Robertson. A train journey through the Hex River Valley, Kimberley market square, streetscenes in Johannesburg and at the Zoo. Views of Government House, Pretoria and of Durban. There are scenes of rickshaws, bullock wagons and kaffirs on the trip back to Capetown. The T.S.S. Nestor in harbour at Capetown and views of Capetown and Seapoint from on board ship.
