Description |
The film shows children living at the Children's Garden Village on the Belmont Estate, Cheadle. They are seen going to school, sitting in a classroom and playing in the playground. Nurses look after the babies and the children do housework and play outside. The girls gather a pile of hay and play with dolls while some of the boys play cricket and some throw hay at each other, before a pony and a dog are brought out. Young patients at the Milne Perrins Sanitorium are followed by the boys walking en masse to Manchester Central train station on their way to the Birkdale Summer Holiday Camp for Poor Boys. At the game there are scenes on the playing field, with various races and a prize-giving. There is also a 'wheel of death' game on the beach - the boys roll each other downhill inside a rubber tyre. The film ends with some trick photography and a game of cricket. |
