Description

The film starts by showing army cadets training in Leek, Staffordshire. They are seen with guns and being transported in army trucks. Other shots show the men in their free time - drinking, smoking and playing darts. The next segment focuses on the 1958 Panto Week, with students disagreeing with police over the disruption they cause. They are shown covering up the nude statue on Lewis's and taking part in a procession, all in aid of raising money. Afterwards, the focus of the film moves onto the regeneration of the University of Liverpool, with the demolition of old buildings, replaced by modern buildings. The film shows the visit of the Queen Mother to the university, with her opening the new medical building and then in a ceremony gaining an honorary degree of Doctor of Law presented by Lord Salisbury. The film ends with shots from a dance where people are dancing and drinking, and then behind the scene shots of the students filming.
