Description |
Event at the 5th Anniversary Gala of the 1984/5 Miners' Strike at Manchester Town Hall on 4th March 1989. Centre of stage coverage of the evening entertainment with a performance by Heroes from Consett Music Group. Followed by Timmy Barnet (?), several other performers and then the North Staff Miners' Wives Choir. A short speech from Roy Lonigan from EPIU (Electrical and Plumbing Industrial Union) a newly formed union formed following Wapping dispute and now giving support to NUM (National Union of Miners). Also captures the final performance of the evening, when all performers are called onto the stage to sing famous songs of the strike including 'We are women, we are strong'. Lots of audience shots and audience participation. |
