Description |
Film showing the events of the 1972 Preston Guild Merchants Procession. The footage shows chronologically the events taking place, beginning with the initial opening ceremony which is attended by the Mayor. Throughout the week religious processions and street parties occur, before the main Guild Merchants procession takes place. Many trades groups and religious groups of the Preston, Lancashire, area take part in these processions with colourful floats and fancy dress to celebrate the Guild tradition that occurs once every 20 years. The film ends with footage from the fairground atractions and fireworks displayed at Avenham Park, Preston. |
