Description

On 3rd July 1965, the parade begins with a marching band led by a man on a horse followed by a girls’ dance troupe, floats pulled by tractors, fancy dress and a steam traction engine on a country road while the Rose Queens and retinue travel in a convertible car. At the festival showground we see the children's fancy dress parade and the Rose Queen coronation ceremony followed by a parade of floats and prize giving. Various funfair stalls including hoopla, vintage cars and a steam traction engine. An elderly woman pushing a small child around the garden in a home-made wheelbarrow.
