Description

Short story about how a ball of string causes an argument between a married couple. The husband comes into the kitchen with a ball of string and a newspaper. He sits down to eat with his wife who asks if she can use the string to mend the handle of her shopping bag. He reluctantly agrees but after fixing the bag she uses more string to tie up a parcel whilst he reads his paper. By the time he notices, there is only a short piece of string left, much to his annoyance and to her embarrassment.
