Description

A young man on horseback leads a girls’ dance troupe and a marching brass band in the 1981 Lower Withington Rose Queen Festival. Decorated floats and people in fancy dress collecting money for charity are followed by a Morris dancing troupe and the Rose Queens in a vintage convertible car and a horse-drawn carriage. At the showground the brass band accompanies the Rose Queen coronation ceremony followed by competitions and prize giving for fancy dress, best decorated floats and bicycles. The film ends with children dancing around the May pole and a Morris dancing demonstration.
