Description

Film featuring steel scrap drives in April and May 1952 - in Bolton, vans are seen collecting scrap from a council estate and taking it to the scrap yard; in Preston, further scenes of collecting from households and the town crier promoting the event in the town centre. In Liverpool, men are seen digging up tram lines, and there are views of posters in the window of the National Savings Centre as well as the Anglican Cathedral, the ferries on the Mersey and the entrance to the Queensway Tunnel.
