Description

A performance of 'Magnoun Naboudam', a folk song from the North East of Iran by members of the Manchester International Roots Orchestra [MIRO] in a music museum setting. Fabrika Taghypoor provides vocals and plays the Tar, a guitar like six stringed Persian plucked instrument and she is accompanied by Dana Ismaili on the Persian Duf drum, a large hand-held drum/tambourine like instrument. Fabrika goes on to describe briefly her own academic history, the history of the 18th century Tar instrument and the differences between western and Iranian music as well as giving a demonstration as to how the Tar is played and tuned.
