[VARIOUS CAR TRIALS]

Pre- and post-war race trails involving the North West MG Car Club as well as veteran car rallies and racing at Oulton Park in Cheshire. The film begins with officials talking with each other, cars doing speed trials then during off road trials we see the cars struggling to get up a muddy hill and a women driver changing a wheel After race scenes at Oulton Park we have more trial scenes with the cars crossing a river then a young couple enjoying a picnic. A veteran car rally is followed by MG club members on the A556. More car trials with the drivers and passengers bouncing up and down to help the car gain traction in muddy conditions. Scenes from the 1949 Cockshoot trial are followed by another veteran car rally and a car race on a disused airfield.

Members of the Turton Auxiliary Fire Service are seen training in fire fighting techniques and putting out a burning derelict building. ARP wardens practice first aid, collecting casualties and taking them to hospital. Gas mask training is also seen and the film concludes with exterior views of a territorial army recruitment office.
 
 
 
MANCHESTER WHEELERS EASTER TOUR 1939 [AND LATER SCENES]

The film shows various activities of the Manchester Wheelers Club, including track and time-trial road cycle racing, and interior shots of cyclists pedalling furiously on stationary bikes in front of a meter. Other activities include a crown green bowling match and a motoring party at Whittington. It includes the 1939 Easter Tour at the Grapes Hotel, Maentwrog with visits to the Tan-y-Bwlch Steam Engine and Harlech Castle. Past and present Presidents of the Club are shown, along with club members dressed in traditional women's Welsh costume.

Opens with electioneering footage in Lytham. Cars and houses adorned with placards are seen in the vicinity of a polling station. Continues with footage of the sea front before shots of a visit by Queen Elizabeth. She is seen being greeted by civic dignitaries before being driven off watched by crowds. The Auxiliary Fire Service is seen training and on parade in a variety of other Lytham locations. The AFS, along with many other civic and military groups, are seen in a procession before the film closes with a fire fighting display
 
 
 
FIREFIGHTERS IN THE MAKING

Film about the Blackpool Fire Brigade - the film opens with views of the control room receiving a call and the fire engines leaving the station. There then follows the various training exercises practised by the fireman - there is a demonstration of the Longworth Safety Line; gas mask and respirator drill; and ladder and rescue practice. The firemen are also seen cleaning the fire engine and equipment, and testing the water pumps.

A group of people, mainly middle-aged women, are seen in the garden of the Calf's Head Hotel in Worston, Lancashire. They do stretching exercises, dance around and then are seen playing bridge. Brief shot of a girl in a canoe, then the same group are seen fooling around on a tricycle and playing cricket in a garden. There are shots of a group visit to Knaresborough and Brimham Rocks in Yorkshire. The film ends with a woman playing banjo, and a family group eating dinner and messing around on bikes in the back garden.

Arthur Binnall Jnr is seen in front of Squire's Gate Holiday Camp with his mother, sister, aunt and uncle. Then shots of various military marching bands and a motorcycle display team in Stanley Park, as well as high-diving and a bathing beauty competition at Blackpool Open Air Swimming Pool. The film ends with Arthur and his sister on the seafront at Norbreck in Blackpool.

A compilation reel of family and leisure scenes: several children play in a winter garden, building a snowman and then pelting it with snowballs. In the summer, two little girls play on a swing and a seesaw, and pick flowers. On a suburban street, a group of girls sets off for school, waving good-bye to the youngest, left behind, and there are scenes in Fleetwood - sandcastle building, and paddling in the Sunset children’s pool. The reel ends with two girls enjoying donkey rides on the beach.
