The reel begins with footage of a group visit to a waterfall, possibly High Force near Middleton-in-Teesdale and a couple walking in the grounds of a stately home. These sequences are interrupted by short colour shots of the 'Joseph Braithwaite' lifeboat being launched on the 27th September 1934 in Maryport. Continues with black and white scenes of the launch ceremony with crowds gathered to hear speeches by a number of dignitaries, a brass band playing and members of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution crew workers stood in boat hut. Includes a speech by Maryport's oldest inhabitant Mr T Carey. Further footage (possibly shot in Newcastle-upon-Tyne region) shows car mechanics changing the wheel of a car on roadside, a carnival procession along a street, children playing on swings at Swan Hunter's recreation ground and various beach scenes.
