OH HAPPY HAPPY WEDDING DAY

The wedding of Kathryn Wain and Harry Roberts at St George's Church, Hyde on 9 August 1958 - guests are seen arriving, as well as the bride and her father. Brief scenes of the ceremony and of the bride and groom leaving the church and having their photos taken. The couple are seen at the Wain family home receiving their wedding presents the following day. Scenes from the Christening of Jill Elizabeth Fleming (film-maker's granddaughter) on 20 May 1956 at the Holy Trinity Parish Church at Gee Cross. Jill is seen feeding swans in 1960, and a group of girls perform a dance on a stage. The film ends at the Christening of Harry and Kathryn's daughter, Nicola.

Views of a procession passing through the streets of Bury are followed by scenes at the official opening of the St George's Barracks of the Regiment of Fusiliers by Field Marshall Sir Francis Festing on the 8th September, 1962. Various clergymen are introduced to the mayor and mayoress during a Whit Walk in Bury town centre, and there are scenes from other processions in the town on a Mayoral Sunday and Battle of Britain Day. At the Tower of London, a ceremony is held in honour of the Fusilier Regiment, with Mayor Manners in attendance, and the films ends with scenes from an unknown group outing to the Lake District.

Scenes at Israeli vocational and dental schools showing hairdressing, carpentry and dentistry students training in 1971. Earlier scenes, shot in different seasons, of Judith and Vanessa Moss playing with friends on tricycles and dressing up in costumes at home in England are followed by a visit to Heaton Park where they are seen in a motor boat on the lake and walking on the hill. The compilation includes shots of animals at Belle Vue Zoo.

HAREWOOD HORSE TRIALS

Crowds gather in the grounds of Harewood Hall in West Yorkshire for this popular outdoor event, filmed on different occasions, and including international competitiors and the European Championships. As well as the show jumping, visitors watch a marching brass band, Highland pipers, and huntsmen with their hounds. Other attractions and facilities include a refreshment tent, stalls with equestrian goods, and even mobile banks.

Clearing away debris from docks on the Manchester Ship Canal - debris (mainly wood) is gathered into a net and towed away along the canal. Grab hoppers move debris into the hold of a vessel, and from vessel to freight waggons.
