There are scenes from a large swimming pool with waterslides, people have fun in the pool while others relax at the side. There are scenes of donkey rides and of children playing on slides and see-saws. A Punch and Judy show takes place on the seafront with Blackpool Tower in the background.

An assortment of scenes from the Wilson family. The film opens with shots of a Zeppelin flying overhead. We see the family and larger groups of people on holidays and trips out to a variety of places, including Gretna Green where we see a shot of 'The Famous Old Blacksmith Shop and Marriage Room'. We see people in the countryside, on the beach, at seaside resorts and at a very busy open air swimming pool where we see people diving into the pool from a diving board. We see a group of people playing croquet in the garden, while others chat on a bench. There is a tea party held in a garden, a wedding where a large crowd of guests throw confetti on the newlyweds and also ice-skating scenes. We see police directing traffic in a town centre. There are shots of a biplane watched by spectators at an air show. There are scenes from the Stretford Pageant. There is a procession of vintage cars followed by horses and carts. There are floats, a fire engine, mounted police, people in fancy dress, scouts and civic dignitaries included in the procession.

Joan plays tennis with her mother and is seen on the putting green and at a college at Cambridge. The end of the film shows Margaret Welch (nee Hill) in the garden at Bowdon with her baby son, Michael.

The film concludes with scenes of Mr Joshua Preston feeding his chickens at Glengarry and a fancy dress parade through the streets of Stockport [?]. [The preservation of this film was funded by a grant from the National Heritage Memorial Fund.]

[THE OPENING OF ST NICHOLAS BRIDGES, MAYOR'S CIVIC DAY, CHRISTENING AT ST CUTHBERTS]

Varied compilation which begins with a colour sequence (heavily magenta) friends of the Tassell family cycling, swimming and camping around the Solway Firth area. Scenes in Carlisle show the Tassell family photographic business van and shop exterior on Lowther Street. The opening of St Nicholas Bridges on the 15th March 1928 shows Mayor Joseph Henderson cutting the ribbon and then unveiling a memorial plaque. The filmmaker's father Frederick William Tassell is seen amongst a group of councillors listening to a speech during the opening ceremony. St Nicholas Bridges are shown from a moving tram and from the roadside. Other scenes include a procession around Carlisle cathedral during the Mayor's Civic day in 1930, with a sequence showing the Tassell family (filmmaker's mother wears Mayoresses brooch). In 1940 family members gather around St Cuthbert's church for the christening of Archibald Tassell's daughter Tanis, who is later seen indoors with her mother Margorie. There are scenes showing men playing a bowling match, possibly the Carlisle Subscription Club. Concludes with a short colour shot of a person holding a black cat.
