The family visit various coastal and rural locations in Ireland, including Glendalough Round Tower and, at Glencree, a German war cemetery and a deserted former borstal. Caroline has a drink of water from an old roadside pump and is given a ride on a pony. There are scenes at Dun Laoghaire docks with the ferry leaving before the film ends with the view from the departing boat.
