Winter scenes with the Nightingale family skating, sledging and throwing snowballs at Tarn Hows in the Lake District. Footage shows stormy weather shots of Grange-over-Sands seafront and a walk to Ingleton falls in Yorkshire. The Nightingale children attend a cycling proficiency instruction course. Other outdoor family activities seen include canoeing on Lancaster Canal, sailing on Coniston lake and horse riding near Windermere. The family visit Blackpool Pleasure Beach and go for a walk in the December sun on Cartmel Fell.

At the farm near Oswestry an elderly man, Mr Wild, digs up potatoes for the visitors to take away. After shots of the Shropshire Union Canal at Nantwich, the family visit a number of campsites in rural, lakeside and clifftop settings before Barbara and Caroline carry a Christmas tree along a country lane. Concludes with footage from an agricultural show in Oswestry featuring a parade of prize bulls and a hunting display. Scenes from a cycling holiday taken by the Lloyd family in Ireland. After shots of the 'Hibernia' in dock at Holyhead, Barbara and her young daughter Caroline climb aboard the ferry and are shown on deck with their bicycles. The family visit various coastal and rural locations in Ireland, including Glendalough Round Tower and, at Glencree, a German war cemetery and a deserted former borstal. Caroline has a drink of water from an old roadside pump and is given a ride on a pony. There are scenes at Dun Laoghaire docks with the ferry leaving before the film ends with the view from the departing boat. BLACKPOOL ILLUMINATIONS [1965]

Coverage of the switch on of the 1965 illuminations, and shots of the displays taken from a moving tram. After a welcome address from the mayor on a stage outside Blackpool Town Hall, the actor David Tomlinson gives a speech before inviting other stars of the Mary Poppins film to join him in switching on the lights. There is footage of illuminated rides at the Pleasure Beach and shots of some decorated and adapted trams. The rest of the reel features scenes of the illuminations taken from the BBC Tram as it travels up from the South Shore to Bispham. Amateur drama about a girl being attacked by a stranger. Opens with the girl leaving school, playing with a ball. A man follows her, joins in her game and befriends her by buying her an ice cream. He then attempts to molest her, but she pushes him over and runs off. There is a chase through partly-demolished buildings until she is caught and the man tries to strangle her. Scenes from the Royal Lancashire Show. After an opening shot of a signpost for the event, one of the Wild children is seen at the controls of a vintage fire engine. There follows footage of the various attractions within the showground, including a parachute display, parades of livestock and agricultural vehicles, procession floats, show jumping and a horse riding display team in action.

Shots include men carrying large floral effigies of the Madonna, women wearing traditional Italian dress and marching bands walking along Swan Street towards the city centre. The second part of the reel is a television recording of an ABC News item showing the opening ceremony of the Roman Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ in Liverpool.

Scenes of workers deconstructing and packing-up the mobile Century Theatre in Keswick. For performances, the van was raised into position with hand pump rams. Scenes of the walls of the theatre being removed before the seats are rolled up. The reassembled van then sets off down a village street.

A fishing boat sails into the harbour, and men wait with crates of ice to unload the catch. There are shots over the harbour and Loch Broom, and of seagulls in flight. A sign reads, "Ullapool Marina." After village scenes, there are shots of the flowers and scenery at Inverewe Gardens, and of local scenic views over Loch Ewe as sheep and cattle graze.

Richard Greenwood records more railway activities during the later days of steam mainly in and around the north of England including scenes following an accident involving loco 46416 at Rochdale Branch sidings. Also trips to Middleton and Whitworth for enthusiasts in Brake vans on 7th August 1965 and railtours passing through Ellesmere on 17th January 1965 and at Hellifield on 13th February 1965. Loco 70015 Apollo hauls the Lancastrian tour on 19th March 1965. Also seen are the industrial railways of the NCB at Walkden and the Manchester Ship Canal Co. in Trafford Park.
