Film featuring views of the Lake District and Scottish Border area, including shots of coastal towns and harbours. Some footage is shot from on board a boat and includes footage of submarines. The Forth Road and Rail bridges are seen as is Edinburgh and a small fishing town. Following shots of an airport are shots of a St John's Ambulance Brigade rally - featuring decorated floats, and Blackpool illuminations. Continues with footage of a harbour and some Highland Cattle. There is also footage of a group of people relaxing in a garden - they drink tea and a man is seen with a toy sword and French Foreign Legion style hat - there follows a sequence in which the man, and a woman who crawls along with two sticks in her hair, act out a bullfight. Closes with two of the people leaving in a Morris Minor and a brief shot of an aeroplane.

The children are seen eating in the canteen, and on a day trip to Blackpool. Scenes at a sports day are observed, including obstacle and sprint race, and races for parents. There is a demonstration of country dancing and one boy dances a highland reel. There is a staff cricket match and a visit to a church.

Scenes include children running a mock post office, selling 'stamps', using the telephone and playing with a telegram / morse code apparatus. A display in a geography class for the 1966 World Cup is shown, and there is footage of Christmas pictures and decorations.

It discusses the impact of the book on the American car industry and the ways in which the book criticises a number of large car manufacturers in the UK and the United States. In the second part, school children's questions are answered by a Road Safety Officer and a spokesman from ROSPA.

After shots of city centre Manchester, a couple meet at a second-hand bookshop, and go window-shopping around Piccadilly. They walk in a forest and kiss, and are then seen in Ordsall Park, Salford, having apparently had an argument. The boy walks off through the streets, and into Salford Docks. When he returns to the park, the girl has left.
