Scenes from a trip to Italy. The family visit Lake Como, we see views of the lake and the surrounding area. Two men row a boat around the lake, and there are shots of the larger sightseeing boats. There are restaurants and hotels around the lake which is surrounded by mountains. There are shots of the locals around the lake, women wash their clothes in the water and there are young boys fishing. There are rural scenes in the mountains. Youngs boys look after flocks of sheep and herds of cows, and we see the local people as they go about their work. The children pose for the camera. Their dress and farming techniques appear to be traditional. We also see the local people in their Sunday best on their way to church.

The film opens with shots of three boys in a garden, and then we see a girl pulling a canoe from the water. A young boy paddles in the canoe while an older boy sails a model boat. The older boy helps the younger boy out of the canoe then he takes his turn paddling it. A woman then has a go, and she paddles along the lake standing up.

Local newsreel - includes shots of the new motor liner 'Reina Del Pacifico' at Liverpool docks; an air crash at Southport on April 4th 1931; Captain Barnard and his famous monoplane 'The Spider' at Southport on April 7th 1931 and the electrification of the Manchester South Junction and Altrincham Railway. Also a brief view of a train on the Liverpool Overhead Railway. The film ends with footage of the first trackless trolley buses in London and various carnival scenes at Hyde in 1931. [The preservation of this film was funded by a grant from the National Heritage Memorial Fund.]
