HOLIDAY IN SCARBOROUGH

Two middle-aged couples can be seen on holiday in Scarborough. Includes general shots of parks and gardens, the hotel exterior, the sea front and an outdoor swimming pool. Also shots of Whitby Abbey and Fylingdale. Ends with the two couples visiting friends in a suburban bungalow.

Footage from an unfinished production called 'Going to School', shot by students at Sir John Deane's College in Northwich. Pupils are seen leaving home, meeting up at a railway station and walking through Northwich to the school. Other footage shows a student being woken by his mother, washing and dressing and then is seen in footage of school corridors.

Footage from the Rendell's holiday in the Isle-of-Man. The Laxey Waterwheel is seen, as are views from the Snaefell Mountain Railway. The family visit the Steam Railway and the harbour at Port Erin, and also see animals at the Wildlife Park. They are seen on the ferry returning home. The film ends back in the garden of the family's home in Hale, with shots of the model railway.

The marriage of Helen Weiner's cousin, Judith Cohen to Bernard Morrison at The Shrubberies Synagogue in Prestwich in June 1972. Scenes from the ceremony in the Synagogue, and outside afterwards. The second part of the film shows the Weiner family on a day out [possibly Derbyshire] - David and Debbie are seen running around near a river, enjoying a steam train ride, and on a merry-go-round at a funfair. There are also shots of a biplane performing aerial stunts.

Arriving in Bergen, they head north to Hammerfest in Norway and see the midnight sun before heading back through Finland, Sweden and Denmark, visiting many places on the way. After visiting Copenhagen, they travel through Germany, before arriving at Calais for the ferry home.

Promotional film for BEA/British Airways highlighting the many different natural, sporting and cultural attractions that the North West has to offer. Aerial footage of the region is interspersed with views of five different people from the North West enjoying different leisure activities. There are scenes of the region's industry, education and commerce as well as examples of some of Manchester's wide variety of night-life, such as restaurants, nightclubs and a Halle Orchestra concert at the Free Trade Hall. The next day, the five people are revealed to be BEA employees, and are seen at Manchester Airport preparing for a flight to Copenhagen.

Film showing the events of the 1972 Preston Guild Merchants Procession. The footage shows chronologically the events taking place, beginning with the initial opening ceremony which is attended by the Mayor. Throughout the week religious processions and street parties occur, before the main Guild Merchants procession takes place. Many trades groups and religious groups of the Preston, Lancashire, area take part in these processions with colourful floats and fancy dress to celebrate the Guild tradition that occurs once every 20 years. The film ends with footage from the fairground atractions and fireworks displayed at Avenham Park, Preston.

Documentary about the industrial therapy unit at Prestwich Hospital, North Manchester. Doctors and nurses explain the benefits of the unit, where patients with mental health problems are given simple tasks such as packing Christmas cards. Also looks at a joint project between the hospital, UMIST and Manchester Polytechnic, where design students create simple toys and decorations for the patients to make and sell.
