A film about the history of the Bridgewater Canal, commissioned by Francis Edgerton, owner of the Delph mine in Worsley, who wanted to link his mine with Manchester. There are shots of the canal today, and archive pictures and photographs of the canal's former activities. Barges are shown, as well as local houses and anglers on the canalside, and there is discussion of the canal's distinctive orange colour (caused by iron salts) and polluted nature.F

The first is indoor (location unknown), the second is the indoor "Midland" Championship Show, and the third is outdoors at the Oval, Stanley Park, Blackpool. The dogs are seen being groomed, paraded by their owners and inspected by the judges. Prizes are presented to the winners. In the first dog show, some of the dogs are seen wearing different coloured "coats," with rosettes attached.

Further scenes of outdoor horse vaulting, and the film ends with Sarah Jayne Pownall practising bar work and floor routines in the family garden. A party celebrating the Royal Wedding in 1981 - with children playing games in a garden, while adults look on and enjoy a drink. Back to the swimming pool, and scenes at the Pownall family home at Christmas where Stuart and Sarah Jayne show off their new bicycles and other presents, including Connect Four and KerPlunk. Eddie's friends see him at the class and start charging others to watch. After his wife finds out that it is a ladies' keep fit class, he suggests taking up jogging instead - she agrees, and Eddie is seen jogging off into the distance - accompanied by a group of women of course.
